- Course objectives
- At the end of the block teaching epidemiology of infectious diseases will be able to understand and explain the process of spread of infection and factors affecting the transmission of infections. It is able to create a repressive anti-epidemic measures in ensuring outbreaks. Theoretical knowledge is the basis for the implementation of the precautionary principle and in medical procedures. It is able to interpret laboratory and clinical findings in relation to the risk of transmission of infection.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the block teaching epidemiology of infectious diseases will be able to understand and explain the process of spread of infection and factors affecting the transmission of infections. - Syllabus
- Epidemiological statistics; epidemiological approach (descriptive, analytical, experimental epidemiology). Epidemic process; etiology and risk factors for the spread of infection in intensive care patients. Active and passive immunization. Prevention of infectious diseases. Repressive measures in the outbreak. Surveillance of nosocomial infections (NI). Etiology, source of hospital infections, risk factors, transmission NI. Characteristics of the most important hospital infections in intensive care patients. Principles of prevention of hospital infections. Program surveillance, prevention, scientific forecasts. Practical exercises: Rating operational and epidemiological systems, control mode, the clinical workplace. Microbiological environmental monitoring and control of disinfection and sterilization procedures. Interpretation of results.
