- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students will have basic knowledge of chemistry and biochemistry including clinical biochemistry.
- Syllabus
- Basic chemical terms, concentration, electrolytes. Osmotic pressure. pH, acids, bases, buffers. Buffer systems in irganism. Redox reactions. Ion selective electrodes. Methods used in clinical biochemistry. Chromatography, optical methods, electrophoresis, immunochemical methods. The overview of metabolism. Digestion of nutrients, main metabolic pathways in sugars, lipids, and proteins. Check tests. Credit test.

- First condition is full attendance in all lessons. The next condition is to achieve at least 70 % of points from tests. If not, students write the credit test with the 30 questions in the last week of the semester. The limit for passing the credit test is 14 points.
