Course objectives
The main objectives of the course are: to become acquainted with the field of neurology in the field of nursing work; to get acquainted with clinical examination, prognosis of the most frequent neurological diseases and their specific features, with acute manifestations of selected diseases.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
- orientate in examination methods in neurology - recognize the basic signs of neurological disease in children and adults
- make differential diagnostics of basic neurological diseases and their treatment in pre-hospital and intensive care
Syllabus
  • The field of neurology in the field of nursing work; the list of investigative methods in the field, their complexity and risks, the clinical picture, the course and prognosis of the most common neurological diseases and their specific features, the acute manifestations of selected diseases.
  • Nursing care for neurologically ill, affected by movement disorders (paresis, ataxia, apraxia ), communication disorder (aphasia, dysarthria, dysphonia, endotracheal cannula, tracheostomy), during and after epileptic (eklammatic) seizure, delirium and quantitative consciousness (somnolence, soporoma, coma) including supportive and controlled ventilation.
  • Analysis of case studies.
