- Course objectives
- To offer the basic overview of most frequent internal diseases, which are probable to appear, basic diagnostic, therapeutic procedures. To make the students able to recognize emergent situations and to construct adequate steps for solution. To make the students known with main specificities of diaseases symptoms and course in elderly.
- Learning outcomes
- student will know after the completion of this object - symptoms, diagnostics and treatment of lung diseases - symptoms, diagnostics and treatment of cariovascular diseases - symptoms, diagnostics and treatment of blood diseases - symptoms, diagnostics and treatment of locomotor diseases - symptoms, diagnostics and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases - specificity of disease symtpoms in elderly, diagnostic approach, complex geriatric assessment - imobilization, complication cascade
- Syllabus
- 1st week Respiratory system diseases I. Anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology, most important signs, diagnostics, emergencies in penumology, respiratory failure. • Diseases of bronchi, tumors of bronchi and lung. • Pneumonias, pulmonary abscess, pneumoconiasis, repiratory tuberculosis. • Pulmonary mycosis, diseases of pleura, mediastinum and diaphragm, inherited respiratory diseases, pulmonary manifestation of other internal diaseases. • 2nd week Heart diseases - Examination methods, cardiac falure, arythmias. • Ischemic heart disease, forms, risk factors, prevention.Inflammtory diseases of heart, inherited and acquired valvular diseases, aortic d iseases. • Shock, syncope, pulmonary embolism, pulmonary hypertension, cor pulmonale. • Angiology. 3rd week Arterial diseases, diseases of veins, diseases of lymfatic vessels. • Basics of imunology. Celular immunity, humoral immunity, immunodeficiencies, hyperproductions of immunoglobulins, immunosupresive and imunostimulation therapy. • 4th week Haematology I. Anemias, leucaemias, lymfoproliferative diseases. • Haematology II. Myeloproliferative diseases, bleeding, disseminated intravascular coagulopathy, transfusions. • 5th week Locomotion system diseases. Imflammatory systemic diseases, metabolic diseases of ancles, degeneratice diseases of ancles and back bone. • Gastroenterology I. Examination methods, oesophagus and stomach diseases. • 6th week Gastroenterology II. Diseases of the bowel, pancreas, liver. 7th week Specificity of disease symtpoms in elderly, diagnostic approach, complex geriatric assessment • different disease course in elderly, complications, chronicity • imobilization, complication cascade • 8th week necessarity of emergent approach to elderly to accelerate the healing proces and to keep the independency od the elderly. giants of geriatrics, multidisciplinary approach • 9th week social context of diseases in elderly • the influence of senzoric, cognitive and motoric deterioration on the independence and ability to live in own environment • 10th week geriatric maldaptation syndrom • sleeping disorders in elderly, behavioral disorders in elderly • psychical disturbances in elderly, communication basics, stress situation management
