- Course objectives
- Students will be able to learn about the origin, nature, and potential of pain assessment as the fifth essential function of life. They will master the basic procedures of non-pharmacological and pharmacological treatment of acute and chronic pain including the evaluation of the effect of the treatment and its documentation.
- Learning outcomes
- Student will be able to: - Define individual types of pain - Evaluate the acute and chronic pain of the patient - describe basic pharmacological and non-pharmacological alternatives to pain management
- Syllabus
- pain, pain theory, the nature of pain - assessment of pain in intensive care patients, pain indicators, VAS, pain map, differential diagnostic methods of pain - acute pain - postoperative analgesia. PCA, patient education - chronic pain - patient with oncological pain - non-pharmacological methods of pain management - Possibilities of drug therapy of pain I - Possibilities of Drug Therapy II, combinations of drugs, undesirable effects invasive techniques for the treatment of pain - Alternative pain management techniques - pain in the extreme age groups - back pain - communication and psychological approach to the patient with pain - organization of pain management in the Czech Republic, types of outpatient pain
