- The course is only offered to the students of the study fields the course is directly associated with.
- fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- Radiological Physics (programme PřF, N-RFY)
- Course objectives
- In this course, students will become acquainted in detail with devices using ionizing radiation to image tissues in the human body (X-ray, CT), but also with some imaging methods working on a different principle (magnetic resonance imaging-MRI, ultrasound). Another comprehensive part is the measurement of quantities for the determination of doses to the patient during exposure, for the description of sources of ionizing radiation and for radiation protection purposes. This is a continuation of the course Pathology, Anatomy and Physiology in Imaging Methods I.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon completion of the course, the student will:
- have a detailed overview of individual imaging methods (single-photon emission computed tomography SPECT, positron-emission tomography PET),
- have an overview of the description of variables and dose calculations in the patient. - Syllabus
- 1. Topographic anatomy in imaging methods, X-ray anatomy and cross-sectional anatomy 1. Identification of organs, location of organs, relationships of organs. Locomotor system -skeleton and joints. Thorax, respiratory system - topographic anatomy of the system demonstrated by imaging methods (X-ray, CT, SPECT/PET).
- 2. Topographic anatomy in imaging methods, X-ray anatomy and cross-sectional anatomy 2. Abdomen, digestive system, urinary and genital systems(X-ray, CT, SPECT/PET).
- 3. Topographic anatomy in imaging methods, X-ray anatomy and cross-sectional anatomy 3. Circulatory system including heart(X-ray, DSA, CT, US). CNS - nerves(MRI, fMRI, PET).
- 4. Basic pathology. Identification of organs and systems, their basic pathological relationships and evaluation.
- 5. Pathology in imaging methods 1. Skeleton - system pathology demonstrated by imaging methods (X-ray, CT, nuclear medicine). Chest, respiratory system(X-ray, CT, SPECT/PET). Abdomen, digestive system(X-ray, CT, MRI, SPECT/PET, US).
- 6. Pathology in imaging methods 2. Circulatory system including heart - pathology demonstrated by imaging methods (X-ray, DSA, CT, US). Urinary and genital tract (MRI, nuclear medicine, US). CNS - nerves(MRI, fMRI, PET).
- 7. Pathology and physiology in imaging methods. Functional assessment (quantitative and qualitative analyses) in imaging methods (PET, PET-CT, MRI, spectral MRI, functional MRI, functional CT, ultrasound, behaviour of contrast agents).
- 8. Virtual reality, modulation, spatial reconstruction. Virtual medicine imaging modalities, 3d and 4d reconstruction, stereoanatomy, stereodiagnostics, simulation and simulation modulation. Modulation of pathological shifts in 3D simulations by imaging methods.
