Course objectives
The content of the course is an introduction to the basics of the legal system and the individual branches of law. Special emphasis is emphasis is placed on legal issues arising in the provision of health care at all levels.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will:
- know the basics of the system of law and individual branches of law.
- be familiar with the legal issues encountered in the provision of health care, at all levels.
Syllabus
  • 1. State and law - basic concepts of legal theory, branches of law, sources of law, private and public law, division of law power, basics of constitutional law
  • 2. Public administration - basic concepts of public administration, state administration and self-government, basic sources of administrative law law, administrative procedure
  • 3. Fundamentals of civil law - basic sources of civil law, civil code, rights in rem, rights of obligations rights, selected types of contracts, contract of sale, legal regulation of inheritance, liability for damages and unjustified enrichment, basics of civil procedural law, principles of civil procedure
  • 4. Fundamentals of family law - relations between spouses, relations between parents and children, mutual maintenance obligations
  • 5. Basics of commercial law - basic sources of commercial law, Commercial Code - structure, economic competition, commercial companies and cooperatives, commercial obligations, some selected types of contracts
  • 6. Fundamentals of labour law - basic sources of labour law, Labour Code - structure, subjects of labour law law, trade unions - formation and mission, employment relationship - formation, duration and termination, safety and protection health at work, liability relations, working conditions of women and minors, collective bargaining, collective agreements, strike, lockout, wage and salary regulations 7. Health law - sources of health law, public health insurance, subjects involved in health insurance, rights and obligations of insured persons and premium payers, health insurance companies, rights and obligations of of individual subjects in health care, liability relations, confidentiality, privacy, detention, state administration and self-government in health care, professional chambers
  • 8. Fundamentals of criminal law and misdemeanour law - sources of criminal law, principles of substantive criminal law and procedural principles, selected offences, types of punishment, course of criminal proceedings, offences - concept and course of proceedings, sanctions
