Course objectives
The learner is oriented in the basic issues, concepts and scientific structure of pedagogy, clarifies the role of education in society. He/she will develop his/her professional competences with regard to the education of the target group they will work with. He/she will give examples of the application of pedagogy in his/her professional field.
Learning outcomes
The student is familiar with basic pedagogical terminology. Explains the aims of education and training in contemporary society. Reflects on the development of professional competences in the context of the education of the target group. Describes concrete ways of applying pedagogical principles in his/her profession. Presents a prepared 4-hour educational course supported by a course scenario.
Syllabus
  • 1. Pedagogy as a scientific discipline. Determinants of upbringing and education. Basic categories and concepts. 2. Structure of pedagogy, relation to other sciences. 3. The subject of pedagogy - education, its importance in human life. The process of education and training. Selected models of education and training. 4. National curriculum and educational standards. School system in the Czech Republic. 5. Pedagogical principles (development, characteristics, application in education). 6. Conditions of educational work with clients. 7. Environment and actors of education. 8. Reflection and self-reflection of professional competences. 9. Lecturer and his/her role in adult education, competences of lecturer, mentor, counsellor. 10. Communication competences of a lecturer. 11. Preparation of a lecturer for teaching. 12. Presentation skills. 13. Evaluation of teaching activities.

Preparation, presentation and defence of a scenario of an educational course as an offer in relation to the profession in the scope of 4 lessons. Evaluation criteria: A) level of presentation skills; B) didactic accuracy, formulation of objectives, methods, verification of results, fulfillment of objectives.
