Course objectives
The aims of subject are: - to teach students about fundamental of philosophy, historical progression, nursing conception, professional terminology, conceptual nursing models, particulars periods of the nursing process at the clinical practice and elementary interventions in nursing. - to teach students about the specifics of multicultural/transcultural care. - to get acquainted students with the specifics of palliative and hospice care. - to get acquainted students with elementary nursing interventions in ophthalmology, including first aid and solving urgent conditions in ophthalmology.
Learning outcomes
The subject aim it’s to introduce students with the basical philosophy, historical progression, nursing conception, special nomenclature, conceptual nursing models and particulars periods of the nursing process at the clinical praktice. Students understand the specification of ophthalmologic and optometric workplaces. Students are able to provide basic nursing care in ophthalmology and take care of clients with specific needs.

  • Characteristics of the field of nursing. Multidisciplinary team. Health, disease. Holistic theories of disease. Health index, health protection of the nurse. Disinfection and sterilization. Categories of human needs and their satisfaction. Characteristics of the nursing process, its meaning, stages and objectives. Norms and standards of nursing care. Immobilisation syndrome and its prevention. Decubitus problems. Multicultural/transcultural care. Palliative and hospice care. Nursing in ophthalmology. First aid in ophthalmology.
