The course has no prerequisites. Its purpose is to unify the subject-knowledge for the study group with different backgrounds so that the students can successfully work in the subsequent seminars.

At the end of the course, students should know the structure of Czech healthcare regulation.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student will know:
- obligations of the health service provider
- the role of individual public authorities with a role in the health sector
- the competence framework for health professionals
- labor legislation affecting the work of healthcare professionals
Syllabus
  • 1. State and law - basic concepts of the theory of law, legal branches, sources of law, private and public law, separation of powers, foundations of constitutional law, the position of national law in the European context.
  • 2. Public administration in health services - public administration, state administration and self-government, basic sources of administrative law, the role of authorities
  • 3. Health Law - Sources of Health Law, Public Health Insurance, Health Insurance Participants, Rights and Obligations of Insured and Premiums, Health Insurance Companies, Rights and Obligations of Individuals in Health Care, Liability, Confidentiality, Privacy, detention, state administration and self-government in health care, professional chambers
  • 4. The role of the health care provider, duties, responsibilities, quality, and safety of provided health services.
  • 5. Labor law - concluding employment relationships, health and safety at work, obligations of employers and employers.
  • 6. Competency framework of health care workers and the improvement of professional qualifications.
