- Course objectives
- Short annotation of the subject Branch content Students will know basic attributes of the dental materials, how to devite them, and they will know basic laboratory equipment. Laboratory equipment Categorization of the dental materials Categorization of the dental impression materials Model materials Forms materials Ceramic materials Plastic materials Metals and their alloys Composite materials Basics aims and content of the subject: Get to know step by step all techniques and materials, get knowledges about all laboratory procedures of fixed and partial dentures.

- Students will know from lectures: 1. Polymers (molecular weight, spatial structure, properties): 1.1. Dental polymers 1.2. Biopolymers : 1.2.1. Nucleic acids 1.2.2. Proteins (human blood plasma proteins, fibrinogen) 1.2-3. Polysacharides 2. Impression materials: 2.1. Nonelastic: 2.1.1. Plaster 2.1.2. Impression compounds 2.1.3. Zinc oxide-eugenol 2.2. Elastic: 2.2.1.: Hydrocolloids: 2.2.1.1. Agar 2.2.1.2. Alginate 2.2.2.: Nonaqueous elastomers: 2.2.2.1. Polysulfides: a) Lead dioxide catalyst b) Clean catalysts 2.2.2.2. Silicones a) Condensation b) Addition (vinyl) 2.2.2.3. Polyethers 3. Abrasion, polishing and bleaching : 3.1. Factors affecting rate of abrasion 3.2. Application of abrasives 3.3 Polishing (roughness of the surface, measurement of roughness, atomic force microscopy - AFM, optical roughness) 3.4, Bleaching 4.
