Course objectives
Basics of preventive medicine with emphasizing on human reproduction, pregnancy, period after delivery, breastfeeding: Basic principles of preventive medicine, primary and secondary prevention, health protection and promotion. Risks for human reproduction and their management, nutrition in pregnancy and during breastfeeding, promotion of breastfeeding.
Syllabus
  • 1) Primary and secondary prevention. Health protection and promotion. Etiologic and determinant factors of diseases. Priorities of the primary prevention in pregnancy and after delivery.
  • 2) Risk of smoking for the human reproduction. Alcohol and drugs in pregnancy.
  • 3) Smoking cessation, the treatment of dependent smokers in pregnancy and after delivery.
  • 4) Occupational risk factors for human reproduction, especially during pregnancy
  • 5) Dietary guidelines: specificities during pregnancy and breast feeding. Methods for the evaluation of nutritional intake.
  • 6) Promotion of breast feeding.
  • 7) Water and health. Specific guidelines for bottle-feeding.
