- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students should be able to:
1. Define practically the components of the digestive, respiratory, urinary, male and female genital, cardiovascular and lymphatic systems using the human cadavers and prosections
2. Identify basic morphological features of the organs
3. Demonstrate position of viscera, their blood supply and innervation in human cadavers
4. Analyse spatial relationships of particular organs and organ systems
5. Appraise features of viscera and vessels at radiographs
6. Explain anatomy, development and basic functions of the skin and its derivatives - Syllabus
- 1. Survey of muscles (except upper and lower limbs).
- 2. Oral cavity (dentition, tongue, palate, salivary glands). Muscles of the head.
- 3. Gastrointestinal tube (pharynx to rectum). Muscles of the neck. Muscles of the abdomen I.
- 4. Liver, pancreas, spleen, peritoneum Muscles of the abdomen II.
- 5. Upper respiratory tract, larynx.
- 6. Lungs, pleura, mediastinum, thyroid gland, thymus. Muscles of the thorax and back.
- 7. Urinary system.
- 8. Male genital organs.
- 9. Female genital organs, perineal muscles.
- 10. Heart I.
- 11. Heart II.
- 12. Arteries. Muscles of the upper and lower limbs.

- Teaching methods
- Practice with the human anatomical specimens.
- Assessment methods
- Completion of the subject is assessed by the course-unit credit. A precondition for obtaining the course-unit credit is 95% attendance at the seminars (1 non-attendance tolerated) and demonstration of the basic knowledge of the semester schoolwork in the form of 3 tests, each containing 10 questions (each correctly answered question is evaluated by 1 point). A minimum of 6 out of 10 possible points in each test is required for fulfillment. For unsuccessful students a resit date will be offered; for its fulfillment it is necessary to obtain a minimum of 6 out of 10 possible points in the test.
