Course objectives
The aim of the training in the 2nd term of the surgical propedeutics is to introduce the main types of surgical wounds, their local and systemic treatment, next obtaining of the knowledge and practical skills (according to the availability of the simulators and the department possibilities) of the basic surgical techniques (bandage application, wound debridement and dressing application). The part of the tuition are lessons from anesthesiology and children surgery. With the completion of this course the student should be able to provide (under the supervision and with the help of the surgeon) basic surgical procedures (wound sewing, venepuncture, plaster bandage application) and completion of the patients clinical records. The tuition has a form of presentations with the practical bedside or outpatient clinic examples and following discussion.

Teaching methods
The tuition has a form of presentations with the practical bedside examples of the patients records and procedures (results of laboratory tests, wound care, plaster bandage application, small surgical procedures participation) and following discussion about above mentioned themes.
Assessment methods
Giving the course-unit credit is conditioned by full attendance in the lessons and successfully written test based on the taught themes knowledge. The term is terminated with the oral exam. Exam consists of practical (surgical instruments, bandages, X-rays or CT scans) and oral parts.
