- Course objectives
- Objective : To prepare general nurse to provide highly specialized nursing care that ensures patients with long-term mechanical ventilation. Students will: - know the principles of highly specialized nursing care for patients with various organ systems with long-term artificial pulmonary ventilation, including risks related complications and their solutions ; know the principles of highly specialized nursing care of the patient on mechanical ventilation for respiratory care including passage; know rehabilitative care , including stimulation of perception, preventing social isolation and communication methods ; know the principles and procedures for weaning patients from the ventilator; know the instrumentation used for prolonged mechanical ventilation; know the principles of education and persons designated to carry out artificial pulmonary ventilation in the home environment; know the technical equipment for the implementation of artificial pulmonary ventilation in the home environment; know highly specialized nursing care for patients in serious and critical condition , including trauma and multiple trauma; know the principles of highly specialized nursing care of the patient before and after binding planned and urgent surgery , including preoperative training; know legislation, the removal of organs and tissues ; know the principles of highly specialized nursing care of the donor and recipient tissues and organs. Students will acquire skills: - implement handling and operation of the ventilator; provide highly specialized nursing care for patients on artificial ventilation ; carry out rehabilitative treatment including stimulation of perception , preventing social isolation and communication; identify complications with long-term artificial ventilation and to contribute to their solution , implement weaning the patient from the ventilator; educate the patient and the person designated by it to implement long-term mechanical ventilation in the home environment including the provision of training and technical equipment ; provide highly specialized nursing care of the patient before and after binding planned and urgent surgery , including preoperative preparation ; provide highly specialized nursing care for organ donors ; provide highly specialized nursing care recipient's tissues and organs; provide highly specialized nursing care of the patient in serious and critical condition , including trauma and multiple trauma . Students : - the measurement and analysis of physiological processes using specialized instrumentation including the use of invasive methods; involved in the resuscitation using technical equipment including cardiac defibrillation electric shock ; performs complex highly specialized nursing care focused on prevention of immobilization syndrome and care of respiratory patients with a secured airway; involved in the preparation of patients and persons designated by them to carry out artificial pulmonary ventilation in home care, including the provision of technical equipment; involved in the provision of highly specialized nursing care to patients before and after major surgery, transplants and traumas; monitors the functioning of special instrumentation and ensure its constant readiness.
