Course objectives
This subject is the main one for midwifery practice. Course acquaints with basic knowledge of care for a woman in all ages with a focus on gynaecological examination and basic gynaecological operative, on period of physiological pregnancy, childbirth and early childbed are introduced. Subject objectives - students will be able to: - apply theoretical knowledge into the clinical gynaecological-obstetrical practice; - define midwife’s competences in caring for woman and newborn; - manage admission of woman to the delivery room and correctly analyse current situation; - take care for a woman and child in all childbirth periods;
Learning outcomes
students will be able to: - describe historical consequences and current situation in midwifery; - apply theoretical knowledge into the clinical gynaecological-obstetrical practice; - define midwife’s competences in caring for woman and newborn; - manage admission of woman to the delivery room and correctly analyse current situation; - take care for a woman and child in all childbirth periods;
Syllabus
  • Module subject: - caring for women during gynaecological examination, before, during and after a small gynaecological operation; - caring for women before and after gynaecological operation; - activities of midwives in primary nursing provided to pregnant woman (objectives of prenatal caring, consulting room for pregnant women, pregnancy card, expected term of childbirth, basic examination, changes in woman’s body, psychical adaptation on pregnancy, healthy life style education); - midwives activities during woman’s admission on delivery room (physical admission – procedures – obstetrical examination – visually, touch and measuring of pelvis, auscultation, administrative activities); - midwives activities during in a first stage (childbirth process phases, continual caring during labour); - child monitoring in first stage (CTG, NST); - midwife’s activities immediately after the labour – fourth stage, education; - checking of wounds;
