Course objectives
After completing this course the students are able to explain basic etiopathogenesis of diseases (physical, chemical and biological including genetic) and their consequences. The outcome of the education is to induce ability to understand logic base of clinical manifestation of diseases using both analytical ans synthetical approaches.
Syllabus
  • 1. Healthy and disease. Etiology and pathogenesis. Stress.
  • 2. Inflammation. Cell and cellular interactions in pathogenesis of tissue damage. Acute phase reaction.
  • 3. Wound healing. Malignant transformation.
  • 4. Disturbances of immune system- immunodeficiency, hypersensitivity, autoimmunity in disease pathogenesis.
  • 5. Basic genetics-monogenic vs. complex diseases.
  • 6. Pathophysiology of blood forming tissue.
  • 7. Disturbances of volume and tonicity of body fluids. Disturbances of internal homeostasis.
  • 8. Pathophysiology of cardiovascular system I.
  • 9. Pathophysiology of cardiovascular system II.
  • 10. Pathophysiology of respiratory system.
  • 11. Pathophysiology of urogenital system.
  • 12. Pathophysiology of digestive system.
  • 13. Pathophysiology of hormones.
  • 14. Pathophysiology of nervous and muscular systems.
