Course objectives
The aim of the course is to gain knowledge in the field of surgery from the point of view of nutritional support. Poor nutritional status before surgery contributes to an increased incidence of complications after surgery, including poorer healing of the surgical wound and the need for further surgery. Adequate nutrition is also strongly associated with immune competence and reducing the risk of infections. It is optimal to undergo nutritional preparation before surgery, especially in patients with malnutrition.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will be able to describe and apply specialized nutritional procedures after surgery, taking into account the nature and location of the procedure .

  • Influence of surgical stress. Influence of malnutrition before surgery on the results of surgical treatment. Evaluation of nutritional risk before surgery. Preoperative nutritional preparation.
