- Course objectives
- Understanding the basic approaches in social medicine. Acquiring knowledge about the healthcare system. Understanding the functioning of public health. Acquiring knowledge about the basics of healthcare law.
- Learning outcomes
- The student will understand the basic content of social medicine, comprehend the relationships between health and disease and their determinants. They will acquire knowledge about the healthcare system, public health, and the necessary principles.

- 1. Social Medicine and Public Health - focus, development, content, and methods. 2. Health and Disease, Etiology - basic determinants of diseases, natural history of disease, nosology, classification of diseases. 3. Social and Economic Determinants and Consequences of Disease. 4. Demography, Population Base, and Population Processes. 5. Health Information System, Health Statistics System. 6. Goals, Methods, and Importance of Studying Population Health, Basic Epidemiological Concepts and Methods. 7. Health Care System, Origin, Development, and Types of Health Systems, Social and Health Policy, Problems, Goals, and Concepts of Health Systems. 8. State Administration and Self-Government in Health Care. 9. Modalities of Health Care, Categorization of Prevention, Targeted Programs, National Health Program. 10. Sources and Foundations of European Health Policy. World Health Organization, Health 2020 Program. 11. Economic Aspects of Health Care, Importance and Forms of Social Regulation in Health Care. 12.
