Course objectives
The course is designed as a theoretical-practical unit and is interconnected with intensive nursing care in surgical fields III - lectures. In this course students will gain knowledge and skills in nursing care - neurosurgery.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to: describe regime and positioning of patients in neurointensive care; define monitoring methods used in neurointensive care. The student will also be able to: - describe specific aspects of nursing care for patients: stroke, craniocerebral injury, brain tumor with spinal and spinal cord disease. Explain basic components of rehabilitation and basal stimulation in neurointensive care. Describe resuscitation and artificial lung ventilation in neurointensive care.
Syllabus
  • Regime methods and repositioning patients in neurointensive care; Monitoring in neurointensive care (GCS, ECG, pulse, blood pressure, temperature, PtbO2, CBF, ICP, CPP, TCD) and assesment; Specifics of Nursing care of patients after stroke; Specifics of Nursing care of patients after traumatic brain injury. Specifics of Nursing care of patients with brain tumor. Specifics of Nursing care of patients with diseases of the spine and spinal cord. Rehabilitation and basal stimulation in neurointensive care. Resuscitation and artificial ventilation in neurointensive care. Care of surgical wound and other invasive inputs in patients. Medication, nutrition and other treatment in neurointensive care.
