Course objectives
The course is conceived as theoretical-practical. The aim is to acquaint students with involution changes, health condition and diseases in old age for the nursing care needs of seniors and changed by the illness.
Learning outcomes
Student will know:
differences in the individual needs of the elderly,
demographic and epidemiological minimum,
procedure for complex assessment of the health condition and seniority of the elderly,
rational pharmacotherapy in old age,
geriatric syndrom ,
symptoms and causes of malnutrition,
causes of urinary incontinence and stool,
causes of dizziness, instability, falls and walking disorders,
P> health and social services for the elderly.
Syllabus
  • Demographic and epidemiological minima,
  • a comprehensive assessment of the health and functional ability of the senior,
  • rational drug therapy in old age,
  • geriatric syndromology,
  • malnutrition, urinary and facial incontinence,
  • dizziness, instability, falls and walking disorders,
  • pain, interdisciplinary issues of nursing care for the elderly,
  • health and social services for the elderly.
  • Specifics of nursing in pre-hospital and hospital emergency care. Emphasis is placed on differences in the individual needs of people of older age groups and the way they are satisfied, including the diversity of multidisciplinary care for the elderly in the area of outpatient and inpatient health services.
