“The course will introduce students to the basic principles and practical aspects of cryopreservation performed within the framework of assisted reproduction.”
Learning outcomes
"After completing the course, the student will: Know the theoretical foundations of cryobiology; Interpret findings in clinical practice; Be familiar with the organizational aspects of long-term cryopreservation of tissues and cells."
Syllabus
  • Cryobiology (basic physical principles, cold damage, cryoprotectants) History of cryopreservation Slow freezing and vitrification (principles, efficiency, advantages, and disadvantages) Closed and open systems, types of carriers, risk of contamination Cryopreservation of sperm, embryos, and oocytes Cryopreservation of ovarian and testicular tissue, transplantation Indications for cryopreservation of gametes, embryos, and reproductive tissues Long-term storage of biological material (safety, legislation, documentation, costs, transport) Donor program (donor screening, quality criteria, safety, usage limits, legislation), cryobanks, registries Demonstration and practical training will be conducted within the Assisted Reproduction Methods course.
