Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with highly specialized nursing care in patients with severe disabilities of the cardiovascular system. The subject will enable the knowledge of diagnosis and therapeutic measures in cardiological patients in intensive care. It will acquaint students with the coronary unit and procedures on the coronary unit - preparation, course and intensive nursing care with diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome, left -sided and right -sided heart failure, heart rhythm disorders, hypertensive crisis, inflammatory heart disease, cardiomyopathy , acute limb arterial closure. They will learn about the care of patients after cardiac surgery. Students will gain knowledge of intensive care for patients with mechanical heart support, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). They will acquire knowledge in the preparation, course and monitoring of patients after punk of pericardium, pleural puncture, introduction of temporary cardiac, after defibrillation, after electric cardioversion, after right -sided cardiac catheterization. Getting to know the basic pharmaceuticals used in acute cardiology. The student acquires knowledge of primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
Learning outcomes
After completing the subject, students will be able to provide highly specialized intensive care for patients with cardiovascular disease. Students will be able to know/know: • Know the coronary unit workplace, basic procedures for receiving an acute patient, basic documentation. • Explain the principle of examination and treatment methods in acute cardiology. Preparations for examination, monitor the course and care after examination. • Intensive nursing care for patients with acute coronary syndrome. They will know the indication, course, monitoring of the patient during the procedure and will be able to provide intensive care after the procedure. • Intensive nursing care for patients after defibrillation. They will know the types of defibrillation discharges, the use of a defibrillator in acute care • Intensive nursing care for patients after electric cardioversion. They will know the indication, preparation of the patient, type of electric discharge, complications, patient monitoring after procedure. They will be able to provide patient care after short -term general anesthesia used in procedure. • Intensive nursing care for patients with established temporary pacemaker.
