Course objectives
The aim of the four-part cycle of interactive seminars (workshops) is to acquaint students with the basic principles of electrocardiography (ECG) and its key applications in clinical practice.
Learning outcomes
In the first seminar, students will be given the opportunity to understand and learn the physical mechanisms on which the ECG is based. At the same time they will learn to recognize key characteristics of physiological curve including its variability. At the end of the second seminar, students will be able to identify the most common pathological rhythms (arrhythmias) based on the ECG and accompanying symptoms of the patient. During the third workshop, students will be able to understand other acute cardiological conditions (eg acute myocardial infarction, pulmonary embolism) with the help of clinical case reports, including the influence of blood ions on the appearance of the ECG curve. The fourth seminar serves only for reviewing and summarizing the knowledge acquired in the previous seminars.
Syllabus
  • 1. Physiological ECG and its variability 2. Heart rhythm disorders on ECG 3. Acute conditions in cardiology 4. Recapitulation
