Course objectives (in Czech)
The course aims to promote critical thinking, working with information, disinformation, fake news, refuting nonsense, and the ability and willingness to seek rational and scientifically based information in the health field. A sub-objective is to arrange, write and consult an Individual Project.
Learning outcomes (in Czech)
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to: - work rationally with information - become aware of their errors in thinking, analysis and interpretation of information - effectively search for texts of scientific articles and evaluate their quality - correctly cite sources - communicate effectively with patients
Syllabus (in Czech)
  • 1. General principles of critical thinking 2. Evidence Based Medicine 3. Controversial topics in contemporary medicine 4. Searching expert databases and introduction to systematic review methodology 5. Predatory journals and ethical considerations in publishing 6. Psychology of alternative medicine I. 7. Psychology of alternative medicine II. 8. Nutrition, dietary supplements, lifestyle drugs - which ones to trust? 9. How to do a clinical study? 10. Consultation seminar/Topic for Student´s Individual Project aVLSP03X
Teaching methods (in Czech)
The online course will be recorded in an interactive curriculum: 1) Lecture (online); 2) Test after the lesson. The test is ROPOT in IS (3-5 questions). The test can be answered repeatedly.
Assessment methods (in Czech)
The student must complete: - a test after the lecture (100%) - the test can be repeatedly answered
