The course expects students to be familiar with the overview of British literature since the beginnings till the end of the nineteenth century. Students have solid foundations and tools of literary analysis and are comfortable with reading and discussing literary texts in English. - Course Enrolment Limitations

- Course objectives
- This survey course examines the development of British literature throughout the 20th century against the background of historical, social and cultural events and as demonstrated on concrete literary samples. At the end of the course students will be able to recognize major figures of the 20th-century British literature and up to the present. The lectures will combine literary history, dealing with significant decades, movements and styles, and close reading and analysis practised on individual extracts.
