- Course objectives
- use the microscope; make to native and permanent biological mounts; establish cultures for breeding of ciliates and for breeding of Tenebrio molitor; establish herbárium; use of determination literature; collect and preserve biological material; look up literature and use online sources; get acquainted with the basic methods of field work
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of this course the student will be able to:
properly use the microscope; make to native and permanent biological properly use the microscope; make to native and permanent biological mounts; establish culture for breeding ciliates and Tenebrio molitor; establish herbarium; use of determination literature; collect and preserve biological material; look up literature and use online sources; orientate in field work. - Syllabus
- Laboratory:
- 1. Protocol, drawing. Microscopic techniques, aids in microscopy. Basic of microscopy.
- 2. Breeding ciliates, establish culture for breeding ciliates and Tenebrio molitor.
- 3. Mounts. Native and pernament mounts. Dry mount. Mount with medium. Mount with epidermis and stoma - the relief method.
- 4.Collection and preserve of biological material. Herbarium. Collection and preservation of plant.
- 5. Tools for the identification of biological objects.
- 6. Literature, online sources.
