Course objectives
The aim of the course is to increase students‘ knowledge and improve their skills regarding editorial work on individual sections of a journal and regarding editorial work when preparing a book for publishing. Students will be able to use this knowledge not only in real editorial work but also in their own teaching (e.g. when preparing a school magazíne or other publications).
Learning outcomes
Having passed the course students will be able to use basic editorial skills, and acquire basic skills in proofreading. Students will be able to prepare a text for printing or publish it in an electronic platform.
Syllabus
  • Syllabus: (each topic will extend through three seminars) 1. Basics of editorial work when preparing a book or a journal for printing. 2. Basic sof editorial work when preparing internet journals and e-books. 3. The process of preparing a book from the manuscript and editorial work to the fianl product. 4. Basics of the work of a technical editor (typesetting and graphic aspects of the text).

Teaching methods
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the problematic nature of editorial work both in a journal and in a publishing house specialising in publishing fiction as well as non-fiction.
