Course objectives
  • Develop speech listening skills with comprehension of spoken text.
  • Gain an overview and orient yourself in current world events.
  • Expand and enrich the vocabulary and grammatical competence.
  • Deepen the cultural and intercultural competence.
  • Maintain and expand the level of communication competence in French.
  • Learning outcomes
    After completing the seminar the student will be able to:
  • Understand current events.
  • Create an objective attitude towards the contemporary problems of society.
  • Argue and defend his or her opinions.
  • Regulate the learning process and improve the level of communication competence through self-study.
  • Apply acquired knowledge and skills in practice.
  • Syllabus
    • The e-learning course is divided into twelve blocks and takes the form of:
    • Watching current TV5Monde news broadcasts and partner stations (France 2, France 3, France 4, France 5, France Ô, Arte, RTBF, RTS, Radio-Canada, Télé-Québec).
    • Development of self-corrective interactive exercises and activities based on the level of communication competence (choice of difficulty level: A2, B1 and B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
    • Submission of assigned tasks.

  • During the course it is possible to change the level of difficulty of exercises and activities (A2-B2).
  • Assessment methods
    Fulfillment of required tasks.
    Students must submit all 12 completed assignments (one assigned assignment per week).
    In case of impossibility to participate in e-learning in one of the weeks during the semester, it is possible to make up for unfulfilled tasks (maximum two) during the exam period.
