Course objectives
The aim of the course is to improve the communicative competence of productive speaking at level C1 and to develop receptive speaking skills at level C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. In the area of receptive language competence, the course leads to the ability to understand any spoken speech, even if spoken at the speed of a native speaker and in different varieties of German, and to the ability to understand abstract and linguistically more complex texts (e.g. a technical text, a literary work, etc.). Cultural and intercultural competence is developed on the topics covered in the textbook used and in the supplementary texts. A reflective and discursive approach to cultural content is taken.
Learning outcomes
Students can...
- "understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognize implicit meaning." - "express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions." - "use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes." - "produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices."
