Course objectives
This course is a follow-up of Translation seminars 1 (an introduction) and focuses passive translations (German to Czech) of different styles and text types. Having passed this course the students should be able to translate any common text form German into Czech.
Syllabus
  • Theory: Differences in translating fiction and non-fiction, equivalence according to text style and genre. Translation practice: scientific texts (philology, presentation techniques), fictional texts, coloquial language, comics
