- Course objectives
- By the end of the course, students will be able to: Understand key political theories of the 20th and 21st centuries in their historical and ideological context. Critically analyze major directions in modern political theory and their relation to social reality. Identify and compare different approaches to issues of state concept, democracy, justice, power, and totalitarianism. Apply acquired knowledge to contemporary political and social challenges. Formulate their own arguments and positions based on political-philosophical concepts.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon completion of the course, students will: Understand the development of political thought in the 20th and 21st centuries. Critically evaluate different theoretical approaches to democracy and other political science concepts. Master key political ideologies such as liberalism, conservatism, socialism, and their contemporary variations. Be able to analyze current political issues in the context of modern political theory. Apply theoretical knowledge to specific cases in contemporary politics.

- History of political theories in 20th century. Sociology in political theories of 20th century. Critical theory of Frankfurt school. Existencialism - human, freedom, society. Political philosophy of Christian personalism. Liberal notion of state and social justice. Totality in works of Arendt and Aron. Theory of democracy in 20th century (R. Dahl, K. Popper). Perspectives of post-capitalist and post-communist society - P. Berger, R. Dahrendorf, U. Beck, F. Fukuyama, A. and H. Toffler, S. Huntington, F. Zakaria, N. Chomsky.

- For the ZK from _DPT2, the student answers in writing to 2 set questions, if he demonstrates a basic orientation in the subject, he continues with the oral exam.
