Course objectives
The aim of the course is to improve language skills and students' communication skills (reading, listening, speaking and writing) develop dialogue and monologue speech.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course student:
- can work with authentic text in Russian language;
- is able to react correctly in different communicative situations;
- expresses own opinion on a particular communicative situation.
Syllabus
  • 1–2. Travel agencies. Where do you go on holiday? Organized recreation versus a trip on your own.
  • 3–4. Living in the countryside - advantages and disadvantages. Where I want to live? Conversation exercises.
  • 5–6. What exhibition did I see the last time? What concerts do I attend? I know What festivals I know? Dialogues.
  • 7–8. What does culture mean for me? What artists do I know and why I appreciate them?
  • 9–10. Do you keep a healthy style of life? What is healthy nutrition? Healthy and unhealthy food in my kitchen.
  • 11–12. What the current youth talking about? Today's problems of young people.

Teaching methods
Seminar. Regular preparing for the seminar and doing of required homework. Listening and reading of Russian texts. Discussions and presentations within the discussed topics. Compulsory attendance.
Assessment methods
The credit requirements: 1. active participation in the class. 2. regular assessment and doing the required home assignments. 3. written essay on the given topic (student must hand in it during the last study week at the latest).
