- The prerequisites for acourse in speech therapy and surdopedagogy include a basic orientation in the field, an open approach to learning, the ability to work independently as well as in groups, critical thinking skills, and analytical work with professional resources. These prerequisites enable students to successfully complete the course and fully utilize its focus on academic development and interdisciplinary collaboration.

- Course objectives
- Strengthening Academic Competencies: Developing students' abilities in research, writing, presentation, and the application of professional knowledge in practice. Supporting Teamwork: Creating an environment where students can effectively collaborate, communicate, and problem-solve as part of a team. Fostering Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Connecting the fields of speech therapy and surdopedagogy to provide students with a more comprehensive awareness and understanding of communication issues and auditory disorders. Encouraging Critical Thinking: Stimulating students to actively explore, evaluate, and articulate critical stances and arguments on professional topics in the field. Developing Analytical Work with Professional Foreign Sources: Enhancing students' ability to analyze, interpret, and apply information from professional literature and sources from abroad. Application of Theoretical Knowledge in Practice: Bridging theory with practice and enabling students to apply their knowledge and skills in real-life situations they may encounter in future professional practice.
- Learning outcomes
- The students will present their research projects in the field of speech therapy and surdopedagogy, including their goals, methodology, findings, and conclusions. They will also present their critical analysis of selected professional sources in the field, evaluating the methodology, results, and conclusions in the form of a poster, which they will present during a poster session.
- Syllabus
- Education of pupils with hearing impairment: organization helping people with hearing impairment, hearing disorders, classification, prevention, individual speciality, history of care of people with hearing impairment, psychological peculiarities of people with hearing disabilities, principles and work methods, various ways of commmunication, language competences of the people with hearing impairment, technical aids, reeducation of hearing and speech of children and adults with hearing disorders, early intervention, specifics of work with people with hearing impairment and deaf people, educational proces of hearing impaired children, condition of integration, inclusion, employ of hearing impaired, sign language, interpreting, hearing impairment and additional handicap, special care of deafblind people. Speech therapy, conception of domain „speech therapy“, role of the speech therapy in the science system, cooperation with another disciplines, speech therapeutist, system of providing speech therapy providing in the Czech Republic, legislation. Verbal, nonverbal communication, communication process in the education of pupils with impaired communication ability. impaired communication ability, classification. Child and pupil with impaired communication ability at different types of schools. Speech ontogenesis, developmental stages and preverbal stages. Psychological and social factors in the development of speech. Linguistic levels. Impaired development of speech and his reflection in the educational process.
