- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to offer students an insight into the didactics of literary education for children of preschool age. Students gradually become familiar with the various possibilities of working with artistic literature and its use in kindergarten, taking into account the specifics of the group of children of preschool age (e.g. mental and physical disposition, heterogeneity, children with a different mother language, etc.). On the basis of acquired theoretical knowledge, examples from practice as well as the students' own creative activities and their reflection, they acquire various interpretation procedures and forms that can be used for their future professional orientation.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, the student will be:
- acquainted with the basic theoretical issues of literary education for the preschool period;
- know the spectrum of possible practical activities (interpretive, reproductive or creative) for literary-educational work with artistic literature, taking into account the specifics of the group (e.g. heterogeneous and homogeneous group, children with a different mother language, etc.);
- able to choose an artistic text according to the needs of the child's age and his / her developmental dispositions, group characteristics, etc.;
- able to apply theoretical knowledge and practical experience, choose creative methods and forms when working with artistic text;
- able to reflect his work and the work of others on the basis of an analysis of the activities used. - Syllabus
- 1. Didactics of literary education as a science and its importance in pre-school education of children (content, goals, methods, etc.).
- 2. Literature as a part of aesthetic education in kindergarten. Literary experience as a part of the personal development of an individual and knowledge. Formation of literary competencies and creation of reading habits (position of family and school).
- 3. The specifics of preschool children when working with an artistic text (heterogeneity and homogeneity, children with a different mother language, etc.).
- 4. Didactic interpretation (methods and functions) of an artistic text and its use in preschool education. Specific methods of reception and reflection of the artistic text.
- 5. The role of the teacher in the selection of artistic texts for work with children of preschool age.
- 6. Interpretation procedures when working with prose text for preschool children. Practical demonstration and work with students.
- 7. Interpretation procedures when working with poetry for preschool children. Practical demonstration and work with students.
- 8. Searching for possible ways for students to interpret work with an artistic text. Use of procedures and methods of other arts when working with a literary text (art, theater, music, audiovisual).
- 9. Play as a socio-cultural phenomenon, but also a way of working with a literary text in kindergarten. Dramatization and artistic interpretation of the text (children's performance)
- 10. Visuality as a basic part of aesthetic communication with a child recipient. Illustration and its possibilities of use when working with children of preschool age.

- Teaching methods
- Teaching is based on a combination of different teaching methods: work with selected literary texts, work with illustrations, group discussion, guided discussion, individual work of students, interpretation, heuristic methods, reflection and self-reflection.

- Course completion: colloquium.
Requirements for completing the course: Theoretical-practical written work as a basis for the colloquium. Specific requirements are published in the study materials of the course in the IS. - Language of instruction

- The course XCJ17 Methodology of Teaching Literature and Reflective Practice is connected with the course XCJ15 Reflected practice on the didactics of literary education. The first of them (XCJ17) is focused on the theoretical anchoring of literary education and its use in pedagogical work. Reflected practice on the didactics of literary education (XCJ15) then serves for practical work of students in the implementation of activities, reflection and self-evaluation.
