Course objectives
At the end of the course, the student is able to use the tools of Orff´s musical instruments in practice. A student will be able to create the rhythmical and melodic score for the songs. A student will learn basic music elements of kinaesthetic activities and their usage in the context of interdisciplinary links.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student: • knows the characteristics of the instruments of the Orff´s Instruments (OI), can use them functionally in connection with the song, the movement element and the musical theory; • Controls the methodical series for playing rhythmic and melodic percussion instruments • has acquired ways of creating an accompaniment to songs using basic harmonic functions; • can use games with OI instruments within inter-subject links; • demonstrates her/his skills playing the soprano recorder • Focuses on musical-kinaesthetic activities; • can apply motion and dance games in practice; • has a methodical approach to the training of dancing elements and can use them in working with song and elementary piano composition; • can apply the motion element in connection with rhythm, nursery rhymes, while working with literary text - fairy tale; • can reflect their work about individualised pre-school education; • can evaluate the skills of children based on their age and skill range.

  • 1. Instrumental activities – rhythmical and melodic accompaniments; Music instruments – grouping; Music instruments of Carl Orff. 2. Ritual and other therapeutic musical instruments and their usage in Preschool Education. 3. Creative music instruments (handmade); innovative tools for music activities. 4. Boomwhackers – a technique of playing, their usage and notation. 5. Music Kinaesthetic Education – dance and movement games. Elementary kinaesthetic elements – a play on the body – body sounds, imitation games, conducting (upbeat).

Teaching methods
Practical preparation: singing - monophonic song - accompaniment on Orff´s musical instruments; conducting. Playing the piano and soprano recorder; a play on the body – body sounds. Processing and recording the rhythmical and melodic instrumental accompaniment to score. A handmade musical instrument made from leftover materials, recycling or natural materials. Work on the subject of a teaching portfolio for Music activities within preschool education.
Assessment methods
Type of teaching: seminar Credit requirements: a) A minimum of 80% active participation in seminars b) Mastering the basics of playing the soprano recorder (5 folk songs, two songs arranged for small children (h1, a1, g1, c2, d2)). c) 10 folk songs, 4 artificial songs: singing, playing the piano - transposition of 2 folk songs to major 2nd (up and down), conducting, optional accompaniment for songs - rhythmical, instrumental or kinaesthetic element. d) 3 nursery rhymes /poems – rhythmical accompaniment by using basic musical instruments or kinaesthetic interpretation. e) Processing the score to 2 songs using elementary rhythmical and melodic music instruments. f) A handmade musical instrument made from leftover materials, recycling or natural materials. g) Work on the subject of a teaching portfolio for music activities within preschool education.
