Course objectives
The goals of this course is to teach individual the implementation of the historical context and development of snoezelen. Student should understand basic terms and context to work in snoezelen to educate pupils with physical disabilities, apply knowledge to work with pupils with severe disabilities. Student should know and understand methods of work realised in snoezelen as a part of educational process and basic techniques of stimulation to develop pupils with severe disabilities.

  • 1. History of snoezelen 2. Aim group, importance 3. Tools and aids to equip snoezelen, room types 4. Equipment and aids (soft furniture, room colour) 5. Organisation of snoezelen, documentation 6. Aims of snoezelen 7. Methodological units, principles 8. Methods of facilitation (Bobath concept, methods of V. Sherborne, ball massage, ORT) 9. Concept of basal stimulation 10. Positioning 11. Support of vestibular perception 12. Snoezelen as a support of education 13. Snoezelen as a free time activity 14. Snoezelen as a way to spend free time 15. New theme: snoezelen - MSE environment 16. New´theme: concept of Basal stimulation as a free-time activity, therapy and education

Course will be accredited after presenting of the seminar work (2-3 pages). Seminar work will include one of the following topic: Snoezelen and pupil with physical disability Reflexion essay on topic snoezelen Research (books, Journals) Public inquiry (more info by the lecturer) Essay with the topic: snoezelen Active participation in lectures, essay For students psychopaedia: snoezelen application for a pupils with intellectual disabilities
