- Course objectives
- The subject is aimed at personal and social development of a human being via method of applied theatre improvisation. A student will develop communicative competencies, spontaneity, ability to react promptly; s/he will explore his or her own creative thinking, strengthen self-confidence and improve both verbal and non-verbal presentation. S/he will build up ability to cope with stress from public speaking. The development is achieved in the context of the group, emphasis is put on group dynamics and understanding of its processes. Students will develop ability to co-operate with other people and they will get the experience of abandoning their own "right" idea for the sake of someone's else's and to evolve solutions offered by others, thus empower their teamwork ability and respect to attitudes and personalities of other people. They will also develop attentive listening skills and empathy during controlled reflection and feedback sessions, same as ability to articulate their stances and feelings. The subject offers possibility of better understanding to oneself, other people and the group, experience with public speaking and spontaneous reactions to problems which might be essential for future teachers (and other professions engaged with people).
