- Course objectives
- This is a survey course of American History from pre-Columbian times to the present day. Its aim is to provide part of the cultural background necessary for those intending to be become English language teachers, as well as to serve as an introduction and foundation for further studies in American culture and literature. This, the lecture class will meet weekly and deal with American History chronologically while the seminar class will meet for 2 hours fortnightly concentrating on a few selected issues (e.g. constitutional freedoms, slavery, the West, immigration) and show their effect on modern America. The lecture class will end with a koloquivum and the seminar with a research paper.
