Prerequisites
Presupposed are German knowledge on the level C1 of the European reference framework: "Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognise implicit meaning. Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Can produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices."

Course objectives
The emphasis of the seminar lies in the work with topics of cultural studies, methodically is based it on the idea of intercultural regional studies. A goal of the seminar is it to regard individual phenomena of cultural studies critically and comprehensively and integrate the language work. The emphasis is set alternating in the countries Austria, Germany and Switzerland. Different aspects are pointed out by employment of authentic sources and you receive to opportunity the German language to train. Students are encouraged to work actively to to improve the own language talent effectively and rapidly.
Syllabus
  • Instruction contents are opened to a large extent on the inductive way, over process and problem oriented entrance. With the help of the contrastive view for cultural differences students schould be sensitizes for intercultural understanding. Topics by Sorger: Plate and symbols, education system, tourism, Austrian German, gender roles, etc.
Assessment methods (in Czech)
Die Prüfung besteht aus zwei Teilen: 1.) Abschlussklausur (bei Domogalla) 2.) kurzen schriftlichen Arbeit (Didaktisierung eines landeskundlichen Themas) - (bei Sorger) - bis spätestens 11.1.2008
