Course objectives
The lecture presents the scope of German lexikology and deals mainly with the structure of lexical units and compares the specific features of the German, Czech and partially also English word-formation.

  • Lexem (lexical unit) x Lex x word

  • Nomination (new coinage, sematic derivation, borrowings)
  • Word formation as Nomination
  • Composition, Derivation, shortening
  • gender by word formation
