- Course outline: This is the first stage of a six term course of practical language intended to meet the needs of the future primary school teachers. The students' expected level is A2 according to the levels of the global scale of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, i. e. A2: Can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment). Can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters. Can describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate basic need. The whole course is designed to lead the students from A2 through B1 to B2 with 5 units a term based freely on the recommended textbooks.

- Course objectives
- Students should revise and learn grammar (pre-intermediate level), so that its usage becomes automatic for them. This should help them improve their communication skills, especially speaking ability. They will widen their vocabulary thanks to additional materials and revisional activities.

- Assessment methods (in Czech)
- Students have to pass at least 2 out of 3 short tests focused on the vocabulary and grammar (70%) during the term and the final test prooving their overall grammar and vocabulary knowledge(70%)at the end of the term. They have to prepare for lessons throughout the whole term and do homework for each lesson
