- Course objectives
- Indo-European languages and their classification. Extinct and contemporary Indo-European languages. Slavonic languages in the group of Indo-European languages. Fundamental changes in the development of phonological and morphological Indo-European and Proto-Slavonic language system. Separation of the Slavonic languages from the Proto-Slavonic, the differences among them. The syntax of the Church Slavonic. Reflexes of the development language changes in the grammatical system of the Czech language. At the end of the course, the students will be able: 1 – to understand the process of gradual separating of the individual Slavonic/Slavic languages from the Common Slavonic/Proto-Slavonic language; 2 – to explain the sound features of Czech and other Slavonic languages as a result of the historical development of the Common Slavonic/Proto-Slavonic language.
- Syllabus
- 1. Classification of the Indo-European languages, the Slavic languages in the group of the Indo-European languages. 2. Development of the phonology and morphology system of the Czech language compare to the Indo-European proto-language and compare to the contemporary Slavic languages. 3. The syntax of the Church Slavonic. 4. The lecture is recommended the students who visit the seminary Fundamental of the Slavonic.
