- Course objectives
- The concept of the novel, as recognised today, was established at the beginning of the 19th century. The objective of this course is to introduce the origins and development of this most common literary genre, from the early 19th century to the French novel's 'golden age' in the inter-war period. Students will learn about the most important schools, figureheads, principal works and cultural/historic contexts of those times. At the end of this course, students should be able to differentiate individual literary styles of the given period, categorise them chronologically and compare them reciprocally.
- Syllabus
- Topics for seminar projects are based on novels from this period.
