CJV_AJA2k Entrance Test A2
The English course for intermediate students who can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc., who can produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest, and can read texts and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans. Level B1 course.

Course objectives
In the compulsorily-optional English as a Foreign Language, the students will consolidate their language skills from secondary school (Final Examination in English level), and will learn some selected academic skills (oral presentation, supporting argument, discussion, etc) in English. Successful students will be credited for active participation in the lessons, for oral and written presentations, and for a 65% pass in the test at the end of the semester.

  • SP4BK_CJA1 English as a Foreign Language Consultation 1 Placement Test Conversation: School Education in the Czech Republic compared with the U.K. and U.S. systems. Text 1 (Vacek, J., Hendy, D. Analýza odborného anglického textu, Brno 2006)(Making a statement, arguing the point, a discussion based on the experience) Consultation 2 Growing up, growing old. Adolescence. Adulthood. Ageing. Texts 4-5. (Opinion exchange. Critical thinking. Essay writing). Consultation 3 21st century problems - environment, drug abuse, wars, terrorism, etc. Texts 6, 7, 8. (Survey. Presentation. Problem solving.) Special task: My Work and Study. Current employment, basic information about Masaryk University and Faculty of Education) Test Credit requirements: Active participation in the lessons. Presentations. The end-of-the-term test (Level B1). The student who has not completed continuous assessment during the particular semester cannot be credited!
