Prerequisites
The English course for intermediate students (Level B2) who can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc., who can produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest, and can read texts and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

Course objectives
In this compulsorily-optional Level B2 English Course, the students will consolidate their language skills from bachelor foreign language course (Level B1), and will learn some selected academic skills (key words, summary, comments, supporting arguments, discussion, etc.) in English. Successful students will be credited for active participation in the lessons, for oral and written presentations, incl. a summary presentation, plus passing a Final Test at the end of the semester (65% pass).

  • Consultation 1 (17.10.2008) Placement Test (Level B1): Reading comprehension test. Expressing the opinion in writing. Consultation 2 (21.11.2008) Text 12. Reading comprehension sheets to be submitted to ODEVZDAVARNA by 16.11.2008 Consultation 3 (19.12.2008) Presentations. Text analysis. (Reading comprehension sheets to be submitted to ODEVZDAVARNA by 14.12.2008. Consultation 4 (9.1.2009) Presentations. Text analysis. (Reading comprehension sheets to be submitted to ODEVZDAVARNA by 4.1.2009) Consultation 5 (16.1.2009) Presentations. Text analysis. Final TEST Credit requirements: 1. Attendance: compulsory 2. Active participation 3. Special texts 4. Pass in Final Test Reading comprehension sheets for particular texts are available in IS MUNI Studijní materiály (Studijní materiály předmětu PedF SP4MK CJAN) Final test: (65% of the final mark) Presentations and text analysis during the semester (35% of the final mark). The student who has not completed continuous assessmenst during the particular semester will not be allowed to take the Final Test!

Special texts 4. Pass in Final Test Analysis of texts in writing. Paraphrasing, giving a summary, expressing the opinion and vocabulary awareness. Pass limit 65%.
