Course objectives
The course aims to introduce the literary and theoretical basics needed for personal interpretation and analysis of literature for children and young adults as well as for further studies of literary history.
Syllabus
  • The basic concepts and bibliography concerning the subject. The specific nature of literature for youth. Literary categories, kinds and genres. The structure of the literary work. Interpretative approaches to literary works. An introduction to the theory of verse. The process of literary communication, characters, author, narrator, addressee, recipient and their mutual relationships. Language means of the literary text. Interpretative analyses of selected poetic and fictional texts of the literature for youth.
