Course objectives
The class provides the very basic overall knowledge of the German language. All of the four language skills will be practiced: reading, listening, speaking and writing. Good knowledge of basic vocabulary as well as grammar rules will be required. The classroom languages are German and Czech.
Syllabus
  • 1) Establishing the vocabulary for the following topics: people and family, health and illnesses, living and houshold, life in the city and in a village, school system. 2) Practice of grammar: the use of articles, declination of nouns, adjectives, and pronouns, graduation of adjectives and adverbs, numerals, prepositions. 3) Systematic development of listening and speaking skills corresponding to the topics dealt with in the class.

Assessment methods
To obtain the credit points the students are to pass a written test (vocabulary, grammar, communicative competence), which is also checking the knowledge of contrastive phonetics.
