Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to: (1) to work with recommended literature (2) to study systematicly along the syllabus etc. (3) to create basic positive approach to biology as scientific discipline (which naturally makes knovledge fundament for teaching of natural history on a basic school) (4)to understand basic principles of life
Syllabus
  • 1. Basic manifestations of life – general characteristics of living systems
  • 2. Substantial structure of living matter (biochemistry): biogenous elements; sugars and starchs (sacharids), lipids, proteins (incl. enzymes), nukleid acids
  • 3. Dividing of organisms (3 domains resp. 7 kingdoms); prokaryotic organisms (Archaea and Bacteria, incl. Cyanobacteria)
  • 4. Eukaryotic organisms (Chromista, Protozoa, Fungi, Animalia, Plantae), origin of mitochondriae and chloroplasts
  • 5. Cytology – structure of eukaryotic cell; cell wall, cytoplazma, biomembranes, nucleus
  • 6. Membranous organellas a ribosomnes
  • 7. Tubular organellas (cytoskeleton)
  • 8. Cell cycle; reproduction of cells – mitosis and meiosis (+ heritability), chromosomes
  • 9. Transfer of genetic information (molekular genetics); replication, transkription and translation
  • 10. Acellular forms (viruses)
  • 11. Nutrition: autotrophy and heterotrophy, photosynthesis and respiration
  • 12. Relations of organims and their surroundings (environment)
