- Course objectives
- Particular attention will be paid to the interpretation of selected pieces of prose and poetry for children and young adults. Students will get a deeper insight into genre specifics, will be able to analyze a literary work and relate it to the specific nature of literature for children and contemporary literary trends. Through analysis and interpretation of selected pieces of literature, the seminar offers students a more thorough understanding of Czech literature for children and young adults. When analysing the texts, students notice the basic characteristics of the style of individual periods as well as outstanding personalities. This seminar draws upon the compulsory seminar in literature for young adults.

- Teaching methods
- Students will get an insight into the basic trends of literature for young adults in the respective period, as well as into the specific nature of the poetics of individual literary movements. They will be able to identify and analyze the style of outstanding personalities, significant for a particular period. Students will further develop their literary knowledge and interpretational skills with the aim to communicate with a literary work more efficiently. They will creatively use their knowledge gained not only in the classes but also in their individual study of recommended literature which they will be able to discuss regularly with their teacher.

- Course completion: credit Credit requirement: students hand in written preparations for individual seminars and a written review of one book for children or young adults published after 2004.
